The first Dorchester derby
The first Dorchester derby for a few years produced some well contested games. Chris won a hard match the week before the main games which put the B team under pressure from the start. I don't know what happened on Board 2 but Andy came away with a very quick win. On Board 3, David dropped a pawn in a complicated position but managed to whip up a strong attack. Matters simplified to an ending with rooks and opposite coloured bishops which he might have been able to hold but a tactical oversight brought matters to a close. Board 1 was the last to finish. When I looked it seemed that Geoff stood better but David worked very hard and quite successfully to generate a lot of tactics, but Geoff steered his way through to a win.
