Two defaulted games gave this match an unbalanced and unsatisfactory look. I draw again from comment supplied by Tony Paish. "In the two games actually played, I sacrificed a pawn in the opening for an attack, but by giving it back at the right moment, Heppell achieved an absolutely level ending, with no real winning chances for either side. Meanwhile, Martin Page went wrong in a tricky middle game position, enabling White to break up his Kingside pawns as the prelude to a mating attack."
