Home advantage counts for little in the Bournemouth v Highcliffe Division 4 matches this season, with Bournemouth matching the 3 1/2 to 1/2 win that Highcliffe achieved in Winton. Another hard fought evening of chess, Board 1 was always tight though Susan managed to win a pawn, neither player could make a decisive breakthrough and a draw was agreed. Board 2 was a close match, Black was a minor piece up for two pawns, and managed to push his passed pawn to e3, an exchange of material left Black with a game winning position and White resigned. On Board 3 Adam won a pawn early, and though i didn't see much of the play eventually secured the win. On Board 4 Ron looked to have a totally dominant position , with Manuela's King stuck in the middle and unable to castle long or short, however White left his Queen hanging, and the game turned. Thank you to Highcliffe for a great night of chess, played in a competitive spirit but friendly environment.
