Thanks to Tariq for his help getting this played over 3 boards. Very much appreciated.
When i returned from being blitzed about a hour in, board two and three had finished and board one looked exciting but fairly level.
At about 9:47 Steve who had looked to be getting on top blundered a knight. I know the time it happened as there was no increment and the match started on time. However our player was assuming he had an increment and starting to talk about a faulty clock when he was down to 10 seconds with perhaps a likely 20 moves to play to hope to win. Steve, very sportingly offered a draw and after a very brief thin , Tim accepted and the clock were stopped with 6 seconds left on his.
Moral of the match - never start a game without knowing the time control :-)
