Newcastle ran away from Holmes Chapel with a win, taking advantage of the grading gap.
The games, strangely enough, finished exactly in the same order of the boards, which means that I can only comment my own game.
Despite trying hard to create issues to my opponent the position looked pretty drawish, until Paul decided to push the d pawn a bit too much, giving me an edge that became bigger when the extra pawn became a passed pawn. After several piece exchanges, Paul decided that stopping my pawn was too difficult, so he set up a counterattack which almost worked. Unfortunately for him, despite being a bit short with time (under 1 minute) and with all eyes on me, I spotted and neutralised the threat and pushed the pawn till the seventh rank, at which point Paul resigned.
