The event was hit by the withdrawal of Bacon & Woodrow at lunch time on the day, due to one of their number having called in sick. This left just two teams, so format as for the last three seasons: all-play-all members of the opposing team, double-round, 10 minutes per clock per game.
It was deja vu (see 1998/99 Frost-Wilmot) when the event commenced with ABI/Zurich minus one player. However he turned up after 5 mins, but was unable to overcome the time handicap.
First round shared 2-2.
