Refreshed by the interval, ABI/Zurich showed that they were not going to take this lying down by taking the first round in the second cycle 3-1. Two pairings in this round were between players on like scores - Lees-Page and Barrett-Linden - and, crucially, ABI/Zurich won both of these games. Paish then dealt Tandy his first defeat.
